BrownfieldsBrownfields
is a general term used to describe abandoned or under-utilized
industrial properties. Massachusetts is committed to the cleanup and
redevelopment of Brownfields properties as a way to stimulate the
economy and promote environmental protection goals. These properties
are typically abandoned or for sale or lease, and have a commercial
and/or industrial history. GREEN has provided a wide range of
assessment and remediation services for clients redeveloping
Brownfields.

| Federal and
State incentives can help parties identify risk, limit
liability, and fund the cleanup of Brownfields sites, enabling their
reuse for industry, housing and other purposes. GREEN has a working
knowledge of the benefits that the Brownfields Program can offer,
including identifying risks associated with potential Brownfields
Properties; assisting Brownfields Developers with obtaining funding for
environmental assessment and/or remediation; conducting assessment
and/or remediation at Brownfield Sites for the interested party; and
providing technical assistance to buyers to help to limit their
liability. GREEN has provided environmental consulting services at several Brownfields locations in Massachusetts including Pittsfield, Springfield, Somerville, Malden and Chelsea. Our services have included immediate response action activities in accordance with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan; soil, sediment and groundwater sampling and laboratory analysis; soil excavation and off-site disposal; on site soil stabilization; as well as technical support and assistance with public involvement. |
